Planning to Reach Your Fitness Goals....


Today I want to talk about planning and why it's so dang important.........
I've been staying on track with my workouts and healthy eating lately.  I truly feel like planning is the key to MY success. I know for a fact that if I didn't plan out my workouts or meals, I would eat crap for lunch and skip workouts. On Sunday I usually plan out what I'm going to eat for the upcoming week and what days I'm going to workout.  We cook all of our meals for the work week on Sunday.  I'm telling you that a prepared meal comes in handy when you are running late for work.  I am constantly running late....ALWAYS running late (don't judge me). Plus, I save so much money when I pack my lunch.  I would say that WE spend about $80 bucks a week on groceries.  That eighty bucks covers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.  When scheduling my workouts, I schedule my off days (I take two days off  per week) on days when I know that I won't make it to the gym.  Take tomorrow for instance, I'm taking it off from the gym because I have errands to run after work and I KNOW that it's unrealistic that I will workout after my errands.


If you want to lose weight, eat healthy, or gain muscle you have to plan out your life.  You can't expect to make good decisions when you are choosing them on the fly.  Nine times out of ten if you are hungry, you are going to eat the first thing that satisfies your hunger and I doubt that your starving ass is going to take the time to make a healthy decision. WHY? because you are hungry and hunger clouds the brain. I'm speaking from experience because I have committed the same crime so many times.

Hump Day is the Best Day!

I have been "slipping on my pimping" lately and I apologize.  I've been busy with my new job and haven't really had time to blog or take photos. The good news is that everything is going really good with my new job.  All of the people are really nice, helpful, and stylish.  I feel like I need to go on an immediate shopping spree just so I can keep up with my fancy co-workers.

Another reason why I've been neglecting  my blog is because I discovered the show Scandal. I am addicted. I don't know why I am just now hearing about the show?  I'm trying to catch up so I'm watching about two episodes a night (see, i told you that I am addicted).

I got this cute houndstooth blazer from Goodwill.  It reminds me of the Thrift Shop song. 

Fitness News? I packed my lunch and breakfast everyday last week AND I worked out five days.  I'm so serious about reaching my fitness goals.

New Beginnings

 
 

 
 In the words of  Dr. Dre, "today was a good day".
Today was my first day at my new job. Every thing went really well, just as I imagined it would.
 
 At the end of last year I started to brainstorm on what I wanted to accomplish in 2013
A major thing that I wanted to change was my career.  I worked in the same position for 5 years and I wasn't happy.  I wanted more.  I needed more.
The lawd answered my prayers and granted me with a new career opportunity and I couldn't be happier.  The biggest thing that I realized was that I underestimated my worth.  I was complacent.
It sucks that it took me this long to come to my senses, but I'm happy. Really happy.

So this is the big news that I wanted to share with you guys.

Buckwheat Strawberry and Banana Pancakes

Currently, my favorite meal of the day is breakfast. I crave egg whites, bacon, grits, and PANCAKES on the regular. Last month, my favorite thing was a chicken burrito.   Here is one of my healthy pancake creations.......

I must say that these pancakes were off the chain!  I would eat them every morning if
I had the extra time to prepare them. They might just motivate me to wake up  earlier in the morning (key word, "might"). I'm sure that my guy would love it if I made pancakes everyday.

 

  • 1 cup buckwheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 Tbsp of organic honey
  • 1/2 cup mashed bananas
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2 Tbsp EVOO
  • Topped with Carys Sugar Free Syrup and strawberry & banana slices.

    Hi Y'all.....

    Happy Sunday folks! 
    I came down with the stomach flu y'all.  I am so upset because I was supposed
    to have my cheat meal on Saturday (#fitgirlproblems).
    I was planning all week to have pizza and beer at Mellow Mushroom, but instead I spent
    the night in the bathroom throwing up (I know, tmi).  We did get some snow yesterday here in the Carolina's....... at least I had something pretty to look at while I was in bed sick. 
    On a better note, I am feeling way better now.  
    Other than my 24 hr. flu bug, I had a great weekend.  I got to spend some time with my little bro before heads back to Switzerland tomorrow.  I also watched the Beyonce documentary on HBO which rocked my world.  I love Bey...she is so real.  She filmed the whole dang interview
    with no make-up and looked fabulous. I want skin like hers.  I'm calling my dermatologist tomorrow.
    Have a good night friends...I'm off to watch some reality TV and fold laundry.

    Happy Valentine's Day!!



    Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope that everyone is enjoying their day.
    I'm actually spending the week at home with my parentals and siblings.  My brother is visiting from Switzerland and I'm so pumped to spend some quality time with him.
     
    I love making homemade Valentine's Day cards and eating all of the yummy candy. 
    I am proud of myself because I have only had one mini bag of M&M's and Skittles today (that's a good thing because I normally eat a ton of candy).
      I'm out of town so me and my boo are not celebrating until the weekend.
     
    This week has been absolutely AMAZING! God has finally answered my prayers. I will tell you more about it on Monday.

    My Life on Instagram


    I'm proud of myself because I have been really consistent with my workouts for the past few weeks.  While most people are trying to lose weight, I am trying to put on a few pounds (pounds of muscle). I want  to get a head start because Spring is just around the corner. I don't want to be thick in the waist and sad in the face!
    I recently started laser hair removal and I am surprised that it barely hurt.  For some reason I was thinking that the pain would be unbearable.  I will say that laser hair removal is expensive but It will all be worth it once summer rolls around.  It will be a joy to not have to shave.
