From Bleak to Chic: Furniture DIY

One of my girlfriends purchased this dresser at Goodwill for $24.99. I'm going to re-paint it and change out the knobs.  This will be my first furniture DIY so I hope that everything turns out okay.

I'm going to store the dresser in my living room because I need the extra storage space.

I purchased the knobs at Hobby Lobby during their big sale a couple weeks ago.  The knobs were $3.99 each with 50% off.

Currently, the dresser looks cheap and old but I am determined to turn it into a masterpiece.

I still can't decide on a paint color. I know for sure that I want to use the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint like my friend Jessica did here. I'm thinking about picking the Versailles color IF the paint store can mix in a little yellow to make it more of a mustard color.



P.s.- I'm watching alligator hunters on tv and these guys are crazy....I want to stop watching but this show is sucking me in.

Jamaican Rum Punch

While vacationing in Jamaica I fell in love with Rum Punch.  It is delicious and if you drink too much it will have you feeling right, and by right I mean tipsy. 

 We went boating some friends on the lake yesterday and I made Rum Punch for the crew.  It was a major hit and everyone thought that it was really yummy.  The girls thought that it was super strong and the guys didn't think that it was strong enough.  I made a gallon of punch and by the time that we docked the boat ALL of the punch was gone.

Maybe, I can add bartender to my resume?



Here is the recipe that I used if you want to give it a try .........

4 Cups water
1 Cup lime or lemon juice (I used fresh limes)
3 cups strawberry-flavored syrup
3 cups Jamaican brown rum 

Pineapple Juice (I can't remember how much I used.....)

My little sister Mia and I decided to strike a few poses for you guys. I keep trying to convince Mia to start a style blog but she won't do it. She works in retail and always has the cutest clothes and shoes. We are the same size so I'm always borrowing her clothes (sad but so true).

Jamaica Me Crazy.

My trip to Jamaica was absolutely amazing!  I spent the week with Cj and his family from Costa Rica.  I am so blessed to have the opportunity to travel to such a gorgeous place.  The ocean was breathtaking and the food was delicious. 

I took a lot of pictures and will post more tonight!

I'm in route to Jamaica and I am super pumped up! I can't wait to lounge on the beach with a Red Stripe and relax.
I have been dreaming about spicy jerked chicken for weeks too, ha. Catch you guys on the flip side!

hump day.

I'm so happy that the weekend is almost here.  I leave

for Jamaica tomorrow  and I haven't even started packing :-/.

So, my high school reunion is a month away and I am not sure if I am going yet.

Saturday was my 28th Birthday. I spent the day with my family back home in SC. I consider CJ and my best friend Dani part of my family too, so they also celebrated with me .

It was nice to have the people that I love the most in the same place for once. My baby brother even flew in from Cali to visit (his birthday is the day before mine). My family and I always have fun together. We laughed at reality TV (Love& Hip Hop Atlanta and Big Ang) and we watched YouTube spoofs like this.   I don't know if I'll ever move back to SC but I can say that I really enjoy spending time with my family.

We all opted for a high calorie Hibachi meal at my Family's favorite neighborhood spot.  Let's just say that I took advantage of it being my birthday and stuffed my face.
After dinner my little sister tried to talk me into getting my nose pierced but I chickened  out.  I have seriously been wanting to get it done for so long now but after a few drinks (to take the edge off) and a little peer pressure, I still wasn't able to muster up the courage to follow through with the plan.

The High Heel Workout

I just ordered these fabulous shoes this morning from http://www.lulus.com/ and I can't wait to wear them! I've been searching for a neutral platforms for sometime now, so I could not pass these shoes up. The heel is a little chunkier than what I am used too, but after reading recent issues of Vogue and Glamour, chunky platforms are making a come back.

A recent study of high heels and the muscles they affect revealed that heels actually help build strong calf muscles (great news for runners and bikers). The angle of the foot causes your calf to work harder (think of it like doing heel rises all day long, you are working the same muscles).

I've been working really hard to add some shape to my non-existent calf muscles. I've noticed a huge difference in the size of my calves and I think that they are really starting to grow. I can't wait to show off my new calves. Below are two of my favorite calve exercises.
