Curly Nikki Meetup!

This past weekend I went to a natural hair (curly/coily hair) meetup with my big sister Ina. I was super surprised at the amount of people (about 800 ppl) who came out to meet Nikki and enjoy the fun. The Meetup was hosted by Nikki from Curlynikki{dot}com.It was so cool to see a bunch of women with hair like mine (no weave,no relaxers).  Some of y'all are probably thinking that "it's just hair" or "why do you need to attend a meetup to learn about hair care?", but I will tell you this, African American hair is so hard to manage.  I have a rather large head y'all and I'm almost positive that a shaved head would look horrible on me, so that's why I want to learn how to manage my hair and keep it healthy (because your girl would look a mess with a bald head).  It was hot as ever and my hair wasn't cooperating so I opted for a high pony.

town and we had a frickin' blast.

Berry Protein Smoothie

Ingredients:

2 scoops of protein
5 fresh strawberries
blue berries (a hand full)
4 table spoons of plain Greek Yogurt
Half of a banana

My big sis is coming to visit me tomorrow! We are going to a natural hair meet up tomorrow.  I  finally get to meet Nikki from CurlyNikki tomorrow.

I had a great weekend.  I spent it with family and friends.  I didn't get to see my daddy this weekend (*sigh*) BUT i have a special trip planned next weekend to visit him and my mom.

These days I've been forced to bare my chicken legs at the gym because my fitness facility doesn't believe in air conditioning.  They didn't get the memo that when it's 90 degrees outside you have to turn the air down.  It truly feels like a sauna in that place.   Anywho, I purchased these neon green shorts at Wally World for only $7....talk about a bargain. I'm going back today to buy more.

Okay, what I really wanted to know is how are your summer workouts going?  With the help of my workout buddies LC and K-dwag I have truly been motivated lately. It also helps that the Mr. is  on a clean eating kick.

Berry Delicious Delight

I was craving something sweet so I came up with this yummy snack.  I'm calling it my Berry Delicious Delight because I used three different kinds of berries. if you are wanting something sweet that's low in calories you should give this recipe a try.  When I'm chewing I just imagine that the greek yogurt is really ice cream.  Oh, and I purchased all of the fruit at my local Farmers Market.



Ingredients:
Greek yogurt
bananas
Kashi Go Lean
Strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries

It's supposed to be  really warm here in NC this weekend. I can't wait to sit by the pool and sip on something fruity & chilled.  Taste of Charlotte will be here this weekend....I can't wait to "taste" a bunch of different kinds of yummy food.

My girlfriend Julia is a jewelry buyer and generously hooked me up with a ton of free samples.  Here is one of the necklaces that she gave me.  isn't it pretty?  I got a ton of compliments and a few people said that I looked like I was in an African tribe, ha....thanks Julia for hooking a sista up!

I'm thrilled that the weekend is finally here. I have no major plans other than cleaning and couch lounging. I'm pretty excited about doing nothing for a change.
