Birds of a FEATHER, Flock Together!

This has absolutely nothing to do with fitness BUT who would've thunk that a feather in your hair could look so cool? Thank you Steve Tyler for starting the feather extension movement.
I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these! I'm not really sure how it will look with my curly fro but I guess that I shall see! If you dolls are interested in installing your own feather extension, you can purchase hair feathers here.

Power Hour

My job opened up a new office building with a Fitness Center and an indoor track, Yay! Normally I spend my lunch hour wondering around aimlessly, but yesterday was the start of my power hour cardio sessions. I ran for 35 minutes, stretched, took a 3 minute shower, AND had enough time to heat up my lunch before returning to my cubical. I felt so motivated and energized after my workout that I even stopped by Sports and Fitness on my way home from work for an intense shoulder workout. Now, only if I could keep this up the rest of the summer...maybe I could give Kelly Ripa a run for her money? (ha, ha SIKE!). I slept like a baby last night...seriously the best sleep that I've had in a long time. Who else had a good workout today? What type of exercise did you do?

Date Night...

After a long day of work Carl and I walked a few blocks uptown to hang out at Alive After 5...we drank a couple beers, met up with some friends, and listened to some cool music. After AA5 we walked a couple blocks to dinner where we devoured burgers and sweet potato fries at Nix Burger Bar . I've been craving a burger for 3 days now and was trying to wait until the weekend to have it for my cheat meal, but I just couldn't do. The urge to have a burger was so strong that I thought about it all day. All I say is that it was super delicious and hit the spot. We love living Uptown because we can walk to our destination and don't have to worry about paying for parking. One more day of work and then it's on like donkey kong! I live for the weekends...

Hump Day!

I found this quote in my fortune cookie and decided to use it as my daily mantra. Usually my fortunes make no sense, but I was very pleased to find this one. Sometimes I'm in such fear of the unknown that I sometimes make myself believe that certain things like dreams/ goals are impossible. I'm going to use this mantra today when I meditate. I hope that it motivates me and minimizes my fear!

My guilty pleasure of the day is Britney Spears!!! I had to add "Till the World Ends" to my cardio play list! I know that she's crazy as hell, but her music always makes me dance!

My Weekend at a Glance

Hi Dolls, I hope that all of you enjoyed the weekend! I'm always so sad when the weekend is over because that means I have to go back to work. I'm not too fond of sitting in cubical when it's bright and sunny outside. I laid low this weekend (no clubbing or bar hopping). I'm really trying my hardest to find ways to entertain myself without spending a boat load of $$$. It's going to be hard to cut out shopping because that's usually what I do when I'm bored, but I know that it will benefit me and my bank account in the long run.
Normally, I take the weekends off from lifting weights but I decided to workout hard over the weekend. I'm glad that I did because I was able to take my time and really get a solid workout in....great way to start the week.

Saturday, I slept in until noon...I don't remember the last time that I actually got more than 7 hours of sleep. After waking up Carl and I took Bri dog on a long walk (we also took her to the park). I met up with my girlfriend Amira later that night for Dinner at Vida.

Sunday, I went to Carl's soccer game and got the chance to try out my new 75-300mm lens. After the game I made Steak and Potatoes for dinner. Before bed we watched a couple episodes for Friday Night Lights....I'm so sad that this is the last season for FNL.

and if you have never seen FNL before here's a little clip...

How did YOU spend the weekend? Oh, and can anyone help me with my new Canon Rebel?

I'm Back!!

I'M BACK Y'ALL!!! I know that it's been a while since I last updated but I was feeling a little under the weather. I'm feeling way better now....praise the lawd!

My friends pulled me out of bed to go see Ron Pope, Ari Herstand, Zach Berkman, AND Jon McLaughlin perform at this cool bar in the Noda art district. I was completely swollen and didn't look or feel so hot, but I decided that I could not pass on such a good line up of artists, especially for only $15. The concert was absolutely amazing and I felt so honored the be in the presence of such talented people. For some odd reason I'm extremely attracted to anyone who can sing, write music, and play multiple instruments.
